Cardano NFT Minting Form
Introduction
We are happy to announce that our Cardano NFT minting page is up and running. This is a major step for the development of our NFT marketplace. For background knowledge, please check out our previous articles. Please visit at https://mint.cardanohk.org/ to mint your own NFT on the Testnet now. When everything goes smoothly, we will setup the Mainnet version to mint production NFT!
Instructions
Using our minting page, it’s super-duper easy to mint your NFT by 3 simple steps!!!
Step 1: Upload your Information
- Simply input the name, long name, description and upload the picture of your NFT
Step 2: Send your ADA to the address
- after all information are verified ok, a payment address will be generated. Simply send the EXACT amount of ADA to this address. We will start to mint the NFT once ADA is received.
Step 3: Check NFT on your wallet
- After NFT is successfully minted, it will be sent to your wallet. You can check on Cardano Explorer, pool.pm or Daedalus wallet.
FAQ
- How can I create my Cardano wallet?
- On desktop, you can download Daedalus or Yoroi. And on mobile, you can download Yoroi. Just follow the instructions to create your own wallet first time when you open your application. Please note that only Daedalus has version for testnet.
2. How can I buy ADA?
- There are a lot of ways you can buy ADA. One way is to purchase ADA directly from your Daedalus or Yoroi wallet. Another way is to purchase ADA from a crypto exchange and then withdraw ADA to your wallet. Please refer to my previous article.
3. How can I get ADA on Testnet for testing
- There is Faucet for Cardano Testnet that you can request ADA for testing purpose.
4. How can I send ADA to the payment address?
- you can send ADA to the payment address (in fact any valid Cardano address) using your Daedalus or Yoroi wallet.
5. What kind of image is supported?
- We support .png, .gif and .jpg
6. Can I add additional information for my NFT?
- We only support name, long name and description as of now. We will add further NFT information in future.
7. How long will system wait for payment?
- Timeout is set for 180s. If we don’t receive ADA from your wallet within 180s, we will consider the minting process failed.
8. How’s the owner of the NFT identified?
- We identify the NFT owner by the payment address and the exact amount of ADA sent to this address. For example, the system says:
“Please send 4812493 lovelace to this address addr_test1vp2ev0fecn9ne0yt0lt3m6hw95dxlj3r4skv03tllyn5nwgyy3nxy. After ADA is received, we will mint the NFT and send it to your wallet automatically.”
System will check if there is transaction within 180s that sent 4812493 lovelace to address addr_test1vp2ev0fecn9ne0yt0lt3m6hw95dxlj3r4skv03tllyn5nwgyy3nxy. If there is, then we treat the sender address as the owner of the NFT.
9. How can I check if my NFT is received?
- You can check if there is transaction that sends the NFT from the payment address to your address on Cardano Explorer.
- You can also check if there is such minted NFT on pool.pm filter by policy ID or name of the token.
10. Where is the NFT image hosted?
- To make things de-centralized, we put your images on IFPS. We’ve chosen blockfrost as our IFPS provider.
- You can find the ID from NFT’s metadata on Cardano Explorer e.g. “image”: “ipfs://QmZ2tEbafZsFfwkenkUpJGxL53UPTaVqYDCuucy2hNWrGy”.
- You can preview the image by adding the prefix (https://ipfs.blockfrost.dev/ipfs/). For example, https://ipfs.blockfrost.dev/ipfs/QmZ2tEbafZsFfwkenkUpJGxL53UPTaVqYDCuucy2hNWrGy
11. How’s the amount of ADA calculated?
- The total amount of ADA consists of 4 parts:
a.) mintingFee
-> transaction fee involved for minting the NFT
b.) sendNFTTxnFee
-> transaction fee involved for sending NFT from payment address back to the NFT owner
c.) minAda
-> this is the minimum amount of ADA required when sending NFT (in fact any token) from address A to B. A detail explanation can be found on Cardano’s official page
d.) Commission
-> commission imposed by us for the whole minting process.
12. Why NFT owner receives ADA along with the NFT?
- all UTXO outputs have to come with ADA besides the native token (i.e. sending NFT to sender.address only without ADA included is not allowed). This is intended as requiring some amount of ADA to be included in every UTxO limits the maximum total size taken up by UTxO entries on the ledger at a given time. A detail explanation can be found on Cardano’s official page.
13. What can I do if NFT is not received after payment is made?
- Please make sure you have sent the exact amount of ADA to the payment address. If you are sure you’ve sent the correct amount of ADA but still can’t receive the NFT, please contact us support@agiisoft.com.
More to come
As Cardano smart contract is not production yet, we are using Time-locked mint policy to mint NFT now. When smart contract is in place, we can switch to One-time mint policy which we consider as a more formal way to mint NFT. More information can be found here.
And more importantly, when smart contract is available, we can setup our platform enabling trading of NFT’s without human intervention. That’s why we are super excited to know that the expected launch date of Cardano smart contract is 12 Sep, 2021.
